The impressive gorges were created at the end of the ice age. Over time, the water dug deep grooves in the mountain. The gorges formed can be visited via carved stairways, bridges and platforms.

The lovely village of Lover is about 30 minutes away by car, and is really worth a visit with its exciting excursion destinations!

• The Vorderkaserklamm is 400 metres long, 80 metres deep and has more than 51 bridges and 35 stairways with a total of 373 stairs.
• The Lamprechtshöhle cave has the longest cave entrance in the world and is one of Europe's largest cave systems. Part of the cave can be visited. You can walk into it over 600 metres – at a height of 70 metres.
• The Seisenbergklamm is a total of 600 metres long and 50 metres deep. The water has used its power year after year to dig an average of 4 to 5 millimetres of stone from the cliffs.

Don't forget to take a thick jumper or a jacket. It can be cold in the gorges.

The world’s largest ice caves are located in Werfen, 20 km from Salzburg. After a little walk of 20 minutes the cable car will whisk you to 1076 metres. Then you'll enter the 40 km cave labyrinth with its unimaginably beautiful caves and channels. This wonderful world of cliff and ice was created more than 100 million years ago and the creation process is still going full steam ahead!

Zell am See in the region of Salzburg is a charming city with roots reaching back to the Bronze Age. The city lies by the eponymous Lake Zell. Take a relaxing boat tour on the nearly 4 km long and 1.5 wide lake. You can rent a motor boat and rowboat on site or jump on a tour boat.

The highest mountain in Austria is the Großglockner with an imposing height of 3798 metres. The famous high alpine road takes you to the Hohe Tauern national park with the Pasterze glacier. The 48 km long road is an attraction in itself with the impressive view for drivers. In 36 narrow curves you'll wind your way up to 2504 metres with the car. On your drive, you'll pass blooming meadows, deep forests, gigantic cliffs and the eternal snow at the foot of the Großglockner. Don't miss this breath-taking nature.
